Exciting Times

A busy weekend awaits full of exciting times, important tasks and potentially dramatic moments. Oh, and good food. The election has finally arrived and we will soon stop having to watch stupid Labor V Liberal ads and news about politicians kissing babies. I can’t wait. Having previously worked for the electoral commission teaching school kids how to vote, I am very passionate about elections being important/people having the right to vote etc. I do enjoy informing people how the preferential voting system works and why numbering all of the boxes is important. And remember, kids! Donkey votes (numbering the boxes in the order they appear on the ballot paper) DO count! Not only will you be wasting your vote, you’ll be voting for someone you don’t even like! Ok, rant over.

While I’m all for voting, I don’t have many positive things to say about the political parties and I think it’s about time Australia considered becoming a dictatorship or just dissolving all forms of government and making it a free for all. Not really, but I don’t feel a strong connection to either party and really don’t think there’s much difference between them. But I shall cast my vote when I take my grandma down to the polling booth. I do secretly enjoy the count and I’ll be interested to see if we genuinely elect a female Prime Minister. That will be something to celebrate.

Paris Hilton

Thank you, Ms Hilton.

In other weekend news, it is my boyfriend’s birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!) and I’m taking him out for a slap-up meal which I can’t talk about yet because it’s a BIG SURPRISE. I will give you a review next week, hopefully with pictures if I remember to take some. Then begins the count down to the most important day of the year – my birthday! Only 12 days to go! Exciting times and lots of food ahead.
